Supreme Pizza Nachos

In honor of the Great American Rescue Bowl, Debbie Matenopoulos is combining her two favorite foods, pizza and nachos, to create the ultimate, game day snack!

Supreme Pizza Nachos

Yield: ~4 servings

 

Ingredients:

Oil for sauteing

Sliced Mushrooms

½ pound crumbled Italian sausage

1 (16-ounce) bag tortilla chips, preferably thick and sturdy

Pizza sauce or marinara sauce

1 green bell pepper, cored, halved and chopped (about 1 cup)

Pepperoni slices

1 to 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ teaspoon Dried Oregano

¼ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

Red chili flake, to garnish

 

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 400°F

2. In skillet, sauté mushrooms with oil until water evaporates and mushrooms begin to brown.

3. Add sausage to skillet and cook with mushrooms until browned. Set aside.

4. Line sheet pan with tortilla chips. Make sure chips are mostly in one layer.

5. Spoon marinara on top of chips.

6. Top chips with cheese.

7. Spread bell pepper and mushroom/sausage mixture on top of cheese.

8. Add a little more cheese.

9. Scatter pepperoni on top of cheese. Sprinkle oregano over everything.

10. Bake nachos in oven for 5-7 minutes, or until cheese melts and becomes bubbly.

11. Garnish with red chili flake.
