Bake Fried Okra

One of the most beloved side dishes in the south is okra. Jamie Tarence's baked fried okra is a healthier way to enjoy fried okra and it still has a delicious crispy coating and is super easy to make too with hardly any clean-up

Oven “Fried” Crispy Okra
Jamie Tarence

Ingredients:
1 lb. Fresh Okra
2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
¼ - ½ C chicken fry or mixture of flour, breadcrumbs, salt + pepper
EVOO or Avocado Spray

Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 425 ° F.
2. Slice your fully washed okra into thin slices. The thinner the slices, the crispier the okra will be.
3. Drizzle okra with EVOO until well coated.
4. Add your flour and seasoning mix or chicken fry mix and toss your okra until each piece is fully coated.
5. Spread your okra out on a baking sheet, or in a crisper basket making sure your okra layer is as flat as possible.
6. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until it begins to brown.
7. Take your okra out of the oven and spray with EVOO or Avocado Oil spray to prevent it from drying out.
8. Finish baking for another 10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
9. Enjoy with your favorite summer dinner, dipping sauce, or by itself!

**Baking times may vary based on your oven, so you’ll want to monitor the okra every few minutes**
