Sausage Sage Stuffing

Debbie Matenopoulos

Ingredients:

1-2 Pounds sausage

2-3 Cups chopped mushrooms

4-5 Stalks celery finely chopped

1 Whole Vidalia onion

1 Bunch finely chopped sage

4-5 Cloves of garlic

2-4 Cups croutons

2 Cups chicken broth

½ Stick butter

Salt to taste

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven 350 degrees.

2. Finely chop all veggies, sage, and garlic and set aside.

3. In a deep saucepan melt ½ stick of butter and begin to brown the sausage. Once sausage is browned add chopped onion and cook until transparent. Approximately 6 minutes. Add chopped celery. Continue to cook 2-3 minutes.

4. Add chopped mushrooms, garlic, and sage. Cook for another 6 minutes.

5. Add 1 cup chicken broth and continue to cook 1-2 minutes more.

6. Add croutons and rest of chicken broth until croutons are completely wet but not soaked. Transfer to an oven safe baking dish and bake for 35-40 minutes.

7. Broil for 1-2 minutes if desired crunchiness on top. Be sure to watch your broiler as it can burn very quickly.

8. Enjoy!
